New Developments in Solingen Quadruple Murder Trial

Tue 13th May, 2025

In the ongoing trial concerning the quadruple murder in Solingen, a previously undisclosed document has emerged, raising questions about the investigation's integrity. According to legal representatives for the plaintiffs, this document indicates that law enforcement classified the deadly arson attack as politically motivated, citing right-wing extremism, just a month after the incident.

The disclosure of this document has sparked outrage among the attorneys for the victims, who label the situation as a scandal. They assert that critical information was withheld from both the court and their clients, with the document reportedly altered by a police officer post-facto and not included in the official case file.

Following the apprehension of the confessed perpetrator, Wuppertal's police chief stated there was no evidence suggesting a connection to far-right ideologies. However, throughout the trial, various pieces of evidence have surfaced, including a racist poem found in the defendant's garage, neo-Nazi literature, a racist chat message exchanged with his girlfriend, as well as 166 files containing extremist material stored on a hard drive.

The tragic incident occurred on March 25, 2024, when a fire claimed the lives of a Bulgarian family residing in the upper floor of a building in Solingen. The victims included two parents, aged 28 and 29, and their two young daughters, aged three years and a few months. The accused has cited conflicts with the landlord, stemming from eviction due to unpaid rent, as the motive for his actions.

In addition to this incident, the 40-year-old defendant has confessed to several arson incidents and a machete assault that left one acquaintance critically injured. He is currently facing charges of quadruple murder along with multiple counts of attempted murder in Wuppertal. A psychiatrist has assessed him as highly dangerous.
