Serial Rapist to Stand Trial Again in Berlin

Fri 8th Aug, 2025

A 38-year-old man has been charged with multiple counts of rape, raising concerns that he may be a serial offender. Marvin S. is set to face the Berlin Regional Court starting October 2, with the prosecution presenting two new charges related to incidents involving two separate women.

The latest allegations against Marvin S. stem from incidents reported in early 2020 and between March and June 2021. The charges include the rape of defenseless individuals, with reports indicating that the accused recorded some of the assaults using his mobile phone. The court has scheduled eleven trial days, running until the end of November, to address the new allegations.

This case follows a previous conviction handed down in July, where Marvin S. was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for the rape of a 20-year-old woman who was incapacitated at the time of the assault. The court found that he had encouraged her to consume various drugs, subsequently exploiting her vulnerable state for sexual acts. Furthermore, he reportedly marked her body with misogynistic phrases and recorded the events on video. The presiding judge described the nature of the crime as deeply disturbing.

During his trial for the earlier offense, Marvin S. claimed that the sexual acts were consensual, but the court's ruling remains under appeal, with the victim, now 23, suffering from lasting physical and psychological trauma resulting from the assault.

Additional accusations came to light during the initial trial when authorities examined evidence from the defendant's phone. Following these developments, Marvin S. was arrested in the courtroom in April 2025 and has since been held in pretrial detention.

The prosecution is expected to seek preventive detention if Marvin S. is convicted again, reflecting ongoing concerns about his potential threat to society.
