Perth, Australia - The search for Carolina Wilga, a 26-year-old German backpacker who has been missing since June 29, is ongoing as authorities have located her abandoned vehicle. The Western Australian police announced on Thursday that Wilga's Mitsubishi Delica was discovered in the vicinity of Karroun Hill in the northeastern Wheatbelt region.

According to police reports, the vehicle appeared to have suffered mechanical issues. It was found around 7:10 AM German time, but unfortunately, the young woman was not present at the site. In light of this development, additional search teams have been dispatched to the area to assist in locating her.

Prior to her disappearance, Carolina had spent the past year and a half exploring Australia, earning money through various jobs in mines and farms. Friends have expressed their concern, noting that Carolina had consistently kept in touch with family and friends, with the last communication occurring on June 26. The last confirmed sighting of her was on June 29, when she was seen outside a store in Beacon.

Carolina's family reported her missing after being unable to reach her since June 18. In a public plea, her mother highlighted the urgency of the situation, emphasizing her daughter's absence and urging the community to remain vigilant.

A close friend of Carolina, who reconnected with her in the summer of 2023 while pursuing further education in Bochum, shared concerns about her well-being. Carolina had always been an outgoing person with a passion for travel. She embarked on her journey to Australia in January 2024, having recently acquired her van, which she was excited to use for independent travel.

The circumstances surrounding her last known whereabouts remain unclear, and police continue to seek information that could lead to her recovery. The community remains hopeful as search efforts are amplified in the region.
