In a significant police operation in Cologne, authorities unearthed a drug trafficking network involving a 59-year-old woman and her two sons. The raid occurred on a Saturday afternoon at a busy intersection in the Mülheim district, where officers noticed a suspicious gray vehicle.

Upon stopping the car, law enforcement discovered an array of illegal substances, including cocaine, LSD, and cannabis, along with several hundred euros in cash. The driver, a 27-year-old Turkish national, was found to be in possession of an additional 1000 euros hidden in his underwear, leading to his arrest alongside a 35-year-old passenger.

Despite providing a false residential address, police tracked the suspect to his home in Hürth, where a police dog led them to more cannabis, hashish, and additional cash. In a surprising twist, the mother of the arrested suspect was also present and was found with a staggering 40,000 euros in cash in her handbag. This prompted authorities to search her residence in Cologne-Weiß.

Further investigations revealed that the family was deeply involved in the drug trade, with magic mushrooms, ecstasy, and quantities of cocaine also seized during the operation. The police were met with resistance from several family members during the raids, complicating the enforcement process.

In addition to the drugs, authorities confiscated a firearm and two knuckle dusters, underscoring the level of violence associated with the operation. Both the mother and one of her sons were subsequently arrested.

The police also apprehended the passenger of the initial vehicle, who was found to possess ketamine and ecstasy at his residence during a court-mandated search.

This case highlights the complexities of drug trafficking within familial structures, showcasing how organized crime can permeate family units and raise significant challenges for law enforcement agencies.
