In Remscheid, authorities have conducted searches at the residences of the parents of a 13-year-old boy following a violent altercation involving two young students. The incident escalated when an 11-year-old boy allegedly used a kitchen knife to inflict a minor injury on the older boy's thigh.

The police response, which occurred one day after the altercation, was prompted by witness reports suggesting that weapons might be present in the home of the 13-year-old's father. However, initial investigations revealed that these claims did not hold up, according to a police spokesperson. Notably, a special operations unit (SEK) was involved in the searches, though officials clarified that their involvement was not directly related to the initial incident.

Three separate residences were examined during the operation, although details regarding the third location remain undisclosed. The parents of the 13-year-old are reported to be separated.

The violent encounter took place on a Thursday when the 11-year-old allegedly defended himself against repeated punches from the 13-year-old during an unexpected meeting in the city center. In response to the assault, the younger boy reportedly used a kitchen knife, resulting in a superficial injury to the older boy's leg. Emergency medical services attended to the injured boy, who was subsequently treated at a hospital.

Investigations indicate that this confrontation may not have been an isolated incident, as prior disputes between the two boys are believed to have occurred. Both children were acquainted through their school.

It is important to note that under German law, children under the age of 14 are considered not criminally liable. Therefore, the possibility of justifiable self-defense in this case does not apply. As a result, law enforcement will not pursue legal action against either child.
