In a troubling incident at Alexanderplatz on Friday evening, a 49-year-old man was reportedly assaulted by a group of individuals, including a police cadet, following a verbal dispute that escalated into violence. The event unfolded when the victim was at the fountain with his eleven-year-old son and encountered three young men.

Witnesses alerted authorities after observing the altercation. Upon arrival, police discovered that the three suspects involved in the incident were students of the Berlin police academy. Preliminary investigations indicated that a 20-year-old from the group verbally abused the victim with racial slurs before physically attacking him.

Reports suggest that the assailant struck the victim in the face. When the man fell to the ground, the aggressor allegedly kicked him in the head, resulting in serious injuries. Emergency services transported the victim to a hospital, where he received treatment for head injuries and a hand injury.

A breathalyzer test conducted on the primary suspect revealed an alcohol level of approximately 1.9 promille. Both of his companions, aged 17 and 18, were also found to be under the influence. Following the confrontation, the 20-year-old was released after undergoing identification procedures and a blood test, but he filed a counter-complaint against the victim for alleged threats.

The investigation is currently being handled by the state protection unit of the Berlin Criminal Police. Authorities are also evaluating the involvement of the other two individuals in the incident. Beyond the criminal implications, the police department is considering potential disciplinary actions against the cadets involved.
