Microsoft Edge to Enhance PDF Translation with One-Click Feature

At the recent Microsoft Build 2025 conference, the technology giant unveiled an exciting new feature for its Edge browser aimed at simplifying the translation of PDF documents. Starting in June, users will have the capability to translate entire PDF files into various languages with just a single click.

PDFs are a widely used format for documents; however, they have often been criticized for their rigidity and difficulty in editing. Microsoft is addressing this issue by enhancing the translation capabilities of PDFs in its Edge browser, making the process as seamless as translating a webpage.

Previously, Edge users had to go through a more cumbersome process to translate specific sections of a PDF. This involved selecting text, right-clicking, and choosing the 'Translate selection' option, which would then open a translation window on the side of the browser. The new functionality promises to streamline this experience significantly.

According to Microsoft, the updated Edge browser will allow users to translate entire PDF pages from over 70 different languages. The process is designed to be user-friendly: after opening a PDF in Edge, users will simply click the 'Translate' icon in the address bar, resulting in a new document created that is fully translated into the selected language.

This feature will be available in the Canary version of Microsoft Edge before its final release in June. The initiative is part of a broader strategy by Microsoft to enhance user experience and accessibility in document management.

In addition to the PDF translation feature, Microsoft also shared several other innovations at the Build conference, including plans for an 'AI internet' powered by artificial intelligence agents. These developments indicate a significant shift in how users will interact with digital content and services in the future.

With these advancements, Microsoft Edge aims to position itself as a versatile tool for individuals and businesses alike, facilitating not only browsing but also document handling and translation.
