Bönen - Authorities in Bönen have apprehended a Lithuanian truck driver who was found to be in serious violation of traffic regulations while operating in an industrial zone. The driver, employed by a German logistics company, was flagged during a routine inspection for exceeding the speed limit on multiple occasions.

In a disturbing display of recklessness, the driver recorded over 20 significant speed violations within a three-day period, reaching a maximum speed of 122 km/h in a zone where the limit was set at 80 km/h. Such behavior not only endangers the safety of others but also raises questions about adherence to transportation regulations.

Compounding the situation, the driver was found to possess an expired certified copy for cross-border freight transport. Investigations later revealed that a provisional extension had been issued, which allowed for the continuation of the journey despite the driver's failure to present valid documents at the time.

Additionally, there were multiple infractions regarding mandatory driving and rest periods, further highlighting a disregard for established transportation laws designed to ensure road safety. As a consequence of these breaches, a significant monetary deposit was required from the driver on-site.

Furthermore, authorities have initiated proceedings against the trucking company for the various infractions committed by their driver. Following the completion of the necessary legal procedures, the driver was permitted to resume his journey to the designated unloading location.

This incident serves as a reminder of the critical importance of compliance with traffic laws and regulations within the logistics industry, emphasizing the need for accountability among drivers and their employers.
