Mon 2nd Jun, 2025

Korschenbroich - In a noteworthy case of crime detection, local law enforcement officials apprehended a suspected burglar following the discovery of a footprint at the scene of a break-in. The incident occurred at a school on Dionysiusstraße during the early hours of June 2, prompting an immediate response from the authorities.

Upon arrival at the scene shortly after midnight, officers found that intruders had smashed windows to gain entry into a school administrative building. Several rooms were ransacked, and electronic devices were reported stolen.

During their investigation, police discovered a significant footprint in the dust outside the school. This evidence would soon play a crucial role in the unfolding events. Around 1:40 AM, residents on Nordstraße reported a suspicious individual tampering with a cigarette vending machine using a crowbar. Responding officers located the suspect, identified as a 48-year-old German national, in close proximity to the school. Notably, his footwear matched the prints found at the break-in site.

Given the proximity of the two locations, authorities suspected the man might have been involved in the school burglary as well. Consequently, he was taken into custody for further questioning.

As investigations progressed, police encountered another individual who fled upon being approached. Officers initiated a chase and successfully apprehended a 44-year-old man, who was found to have outstanding arrest warrants against him. It remains uncertain whether he was connected to the burglary incident. This man was also taken into custody for further investigation.

The Criminal Investigation Department has now taken over the case, continuing to gather evidence and pursue leads. They are calling on any witnesses with information to come forward, either by contacting the police hotline at 02131 3000 or via email at poststelle.rhein-kreis-neuss@polizei.nrw.de.
