In anticipation of the trial of former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette, significant security measures have been deployed at the Higher Regional Court in Celle. Reports indicate that numerous law enforcement personnel are present, including officers armed with submachine guns, ensuring the safety of the proceedings. A police dog was also utilized during the preparatory security checks.

As the trial approaches, journalists and members of the public have begun gathering outside the courthouse, eager to attend the proceedings. Klette faces serious charges, including attempted murder and 13 counts of robbery, linked to a series of heists carried out between 1999 and 2016 in multiple German states.

Due to security concerns, the trial will not take place in the usual courtroom of the District Court of Verden, but rather in the State Security Chamber of the Higher Regional Court in Celle. The prosecution alleges that the 66-year-old Klette engaged in violent crimes alongside her associates, Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg, both of whom remain at large.

The trio is accused of orchestrating various robberies targeting armored vehicles and supermarkets across Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Schleswig-Holstein, reportedly netting over EUR2.7 million to sustain their life underground. The judicial system is taking extensive precautions to ensure the safety and security of all involved as this high-profile case unfolds.
