On April 30, 2025, a significant accident occurred in Garbsen when a van collided with a rider on an electric scooter. The incident took place on the sidewalk of Hermann-Löns-Straße, where a 49-year-old woman was riding her e-scooter. As a 32-year-old man driving a small transport vehicle made a right turn into a parking lot, he struck the rider, causing her to become trapped underneath the vehicle and subsequently run over.
The e-scooter rider sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. In the aftermath of the incident, the van driver is under investigation for suspected negligent bodily harm. Furthermore, authorities are also looking into the actions of the injured woman, as she was reportedly riding her scooter on the sidewalk contrary to regulations. There is also suspicion of a potential violation of the compulsory insurance law.
Local authorities are appealing to witnesses who may have observed the accident to come forward with information. The traffic accident service can be reached at 0511 109-1888 for any tips or details regarding the event.
