Mon 19th May, 2025

The police in the northern Netherlands have initiated a large-scale search operation for two children, aged ten and eight, who have gone missing. Authorities suspect that the children may have been abducted by their father, who is believed to be traveling with them, potentially towards Germany.

The search commenced on Sunday afternoon and continued into the night, with the police collaborating closely with their German counterparts. An Amber Alert has been issued, which serves as a public notification system aimed at raising awareness about missing children. Concerns for the children's safety have been articulated by law enforcement officials.

According to police reports, the two missing children, identified as Jeffrey, aged ten, and his eight-year-old sister Emma, were last seen on Saturday in the vicinity of Beerta, a town located near the German border. They are thought to have been taken in a gray Toyota vehicle.

The local police department in Groningen has made a public appeal for information and has released photographs of both the children and their father, who is 67 years old. In their statements, authorities have indicated that they are not ruling out the possibility that the father may have crossed into Germany with the children.

The situation has prompted widespread concern, and the authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in ensuring the safety of the children.
