Wed 16th Jul, 2025

Dortmund has been shaken by two separate armed robberies that occurred within a span of just two days, both taking place in the city's northern downtown area.

The first incident occurred on July 15, when a 29-year-old local resident was assaulted around 10:15 PM near a portable toilet on Oesterholzstraße. The victim was reportedly knocked to the ground and physically attacked by a group of individuals, who then stole his mobile phone before fleeing the scene. Eyewitnesses described the assailants as a group of five to six persons, which included two women and several men of Southern European appearance. Despite police efforts to locate the suspects, no arrests have been made as of yet. The victim sustained minor injuries and received on-site treatment from emergency personnel.

Just a day later, on July 16 at approximately 1:30 AM, a 52-year-old man was targeted while playing cards at Nordmarkt. He was also attacked by two male assailants, who beat him and took his phone, lighter, and cigarettes. Fortunately, the 52-year-old did not suffer any serious injuries and declined medical assistance. Following the incident, police were able to apprehend a 23-year-old suspect, who does not have a permanent residence. He has since been detained, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. Authorities have also identified a second suspect, aged 27, while two additional individuals remain at large.

The remaining suspects are described as being between 25 to 27 years old, approximately 1.60 meters tall, with black hair and an average build. They were reportedly dressed entirely in black and exhibited Southern European features. One female suspect, who is still on the run, is described as being 28 years old, standing around 1.80 meters tall, with blonde hair and a slim figure. She was last seen wearing a dark sweater, leopard-print leggings, and carrying a handbag.

At this time, authorities have not established any connections between the two robberies. The police are actively seeking information from the public and encourage anyone with details to contact them at the phone number 0231/132-7441.
