Danish King Frederik X, known for his athleticism, once again laced up his running shoes to join nearly 100,000 participants in the seventh edition of the Royal Run. This popular event, which invites citizens to showcase their running abilities, took place on the holiday of Pentecost, with an impressive 97,500 individuals registered to run in various locations including Ribe, Viborg, Horsens, Korsør, and the capital city of Copenhagen.

The Royal Run was inaugurated by King Frederik in Ribe, Denmark's oldest city, where he officially opened the day's festivities. Crown Prince Christian, aged 19, also participated, running in Viborg, while Queen Mary was present in Korsør to support the family's involvement in this celebrated event.

Launched in 2018 to honor King Frederik's 50th birthday when he was still Crown Prince, the Royal Run has evolved into a significant community event that combines competitive running with a festive atmosphere. Spectators gather in large numbers along the routes to cheer on the runners, creating a vibrant and supportive environment. This year has seen the highest number of registrations to date, showcasing the event's growing popularity.

Since becoming king in early 2024, following the abdication of his mother, Queen Margrethe II, King Frederik has continued to engage with the public through various activities, including the Royal Run. He and Queen Mary have four children together: Crown Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, who are all actively involved in the royal family's initiatives.

The Royal Run not only emphasizes fitness and health but also fosters community spirit and engagement among the Danish population. The event highlights the importance of physical activity and serves as a platform for promoting wellness among citizens of all ages.
