Berlin police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with two separate shooting incidents that occurred in the neighborhoods of Kreuzberg and Neukölln. The suspect is currently in pre-trial detention as authorities investigate charges of dangerous bodily harm.

The police's interest in the suspect was piqued after DNA evidence was discovered on a shell casing linked to the shootings. The incidents reportedly took place within a six-month timeframe, prompting serious concerns regarding public safety.

According to reports, the first shooting happened on the evening of January 30, when the suspect allegedly fired at a 36-year-old man who was attempting to enter his vehicle on Skalitzer Straße. The second incident occurred on July 18, this year, when the suspect shot at a 39-year-old man who was standing beside his motorcycle on Sonnenallee.

Both victims sustained significant injuries to their legs, with the younger victim reportedly suffering from lasting difficulties in mobility as a result of the attack.

The police apprehended the suspect on Tuesday, executing a search of his residence in Neukölln and his vehicle. During the search, investigators discovered what they believe to be the firearm used in the shootings, as well as the ammunition and clothing worn during the incidents. Additionally, a substantial quantity of what is suspected to be cocaine was confiscated from the premises.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to determine the motives behind these violent acts. While no direct connection to organized crime has been established, officials have not ruled out the possibility.

As the case unfolds, it highlights ongoing concerns about crime rates in Berlin, particularly in relation to violent incidents. The authorities are urging anyone with further information about the shootings to come forward as part of their investigation.
