A 43-year-old man has been charged by the Berlin public prosecutor's office for allegedly selling thousands of illegal fireworks. According to authorities, he conducted his operations through social media and encrypted messaging services, enlisting the help of his two sons. The illegal sales included over 6,000 transactions involving large-scale fireworks, which are only permitted for licensed pyrotechnicians with official authorization. Such fireworks, including bomb rockets, can pose life-threatening risks if mishandled.

The man faces 53 counts related to the unlawful handling and distribution of explosive materials. The prosecution stated that he had been accepting nationwide orders during November and December of 2023 through a covertly organized online platform, delivering the products either in person or via postal service. During a police raid, investigators seized approximately 200 kilograms of pyrotechnics and 50,800 euros in suspected profits from the illegal sales.

Authorities noted that neither the accused nor his sons possessed the necessary permits for handling explosives. Furthermore, the sales were reportedly made without any age verifications or identity checks, with some transactions allegedly directed at minors. Investigations into the involvement of the accused's sons are still ongoing.
