AMD Quietly Introduces Radeon RX 9060 Graphics Card

Tue 5th Aug, 2025

AMD has discreetly launched the Radeon RX 9060, a new addition to its 9000 series graphics card lineup. This model serves as a toned-down version of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, featuring fewer shader cores and lower clock speeds.

The Radeon RX 9060 presents itself as a viable option for gamers seeking a graphics card around the EUR250 mark. However, AMD has decided to limit its availability to pre-built systems, meaning it will not be sold separately at retail locations initially. This information has been reported by various U.S. media outlets, including Tom's Hardware.

Utilizing the Navi 44 GPU architecture, the Radeon RX 9060 operates with 28 compute units compared to the 32 found in the XT version, resulting in a reduction of 12.5% in total shader cores, which amounts to 1792 active cores. Although AMD has not disclosed specific clock speeds, the maximum computational performance is rated at 21.4 FP32 teraflops, which is slightly lower than the XT variant, suggesting a maximum boost clock of nearly 3000 MHz--about 4.5% less than its more powerful counterpart.

In terms of memory, the RX 9060 is equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 RAM and operates on a 128-bit memory interface. However, it utilizes slower memory chips compared to the XT version, leading to a 10% decrease in memory bandwidth, which drops to 288 GB/s. Notably, there will not be a 16GB version available, as is offered with the RX 9060 XT. The card consumes 132 watts of power, indicating a significant efficiency improvement of 17.5% compared to the XT.

AMD has marketed the Radeon RX 9060 as a graphics card suitable for Full HD gaming. However, the design showcased on AMD's product page is a rendered image and is unlikely to represent the final physical model. As of now, there are no complete PC systems available in the German market that feature this new graphics card.
