Munich. More than 700 drivers were caught for driving over the speed limit during strict traffic controls carried out by the Munich police on Monday.  In total 715 motorists were caught and punished for speeding. Other violations included traffic rules like telephone ban or compulsory usage of seatbelts. The most serious violation was made by a 35-years old motorcyclist with a measured speed of 109 km/h on Tegernseer Landstrasse with a speed limit of 60 km/h. The motorcyclist had to pay 160euro fine, got a driving ban for one month and 3 points to his driving license record in Flensburg.  Another yet unknown driver of a Mercedes Sprinter hit the left-side mirror of the police radar car and then fled away. The police launched an immediate investigation on the incident.

Speeding is one of the main accident reasons causing serious injuries or death of people.  The traffic police of Munich in future will continue to carry out priority actions to reduce accidents.
