Police Capture Two Young Men Linked to Break-Ins in Lippstadt

Mon 2nd Jun, 2025

Lippstadt - In the early hours of Sunday, authorities apprehended two young men suspected of involvement in a series of break-ins across Lippstadt. The arrests were made during a targeted operation carried out by police in plain clothes, triggered by a spate of burglaries affecting local shops and basements.

Officers observed the suspects near the train station, where one of them, a 19-year-old Syrian national residing in Lippstadt, was already known to law enforcement. The other individual, a 17-year-old Syrian from Hamm, was previously unknown to the authorities.

Upon identification, the two fled the scene. The younger suspect abandoned his bicycle, struck an officer in the face, and darted across the railway tracks. He was eventually apprehended on Bökenförder Straße. Meanwhile, the older suspect initially evaded capture but was later detained in the underpass of Konrad-Adenauer-Ring.

Investigations are currently underway to determine whether the pair are responsible for the recent break-ins. Notably, the bicycle belonging to the 19-year-old has been confirmed as stolen in an incident that occurred on May 31, 2025, on Otto-Hahn-Straße. The authorities have also seized the younger suspect's bicycle, as there are suspicions regarding its ownership status.
