Anyone who has been vaccinated twice should get "full freedom" back

Restrictions on basic rights should be withdrawn after the second Corona vaccination. This is what Berlin's Senator for Economic Affairs Ramona Pop (Greens) is demanding. "There is no reason to maintain restrictions on basic rights for vaccinated people," she told the Daily Mirror newspaper.

"These must be able to live their full freedoms with the second vaccination, as they can no longer transmit the virus." Pop was responding to recent findings by the Robert Koch Institute that vaccinated people are not only protected against Covid-19, but also no longer infectious to everyone else.

"The federal government and the states must quickly come up with a regulation for this. It would be conceivable for us in Berlin to make our own push," said Berlin's economics senator. According to reports, the Senate could meet for a special session on Thursday to discuss this and other issues.

Earlier on Sunday, German Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) had raised hopes that fully vaccinated people, just like those who tested negative, could regain freedoms to shop and travel more quickly - but only after the third wave of infection.

Referring to the new findings of the RKI, Spahn said that the risk of transmission two weeks after the second vaccination is probably even lower than after a negative rapid test of symptomless infected persons. Spahn stressed that even for those who have been fully vaccinated, Corona rules such as distance, hygiene and protective masks will continue to apply in the current pandemic phase.
