In Frankfurt (Oder), authorities have identified a 250-kilogram World War II bomb that requires immediate disposal. The disposal operation is set to take place on the morning of April 3, with preparations already underway to ensure the safety of local residents.
According to city officials, access to the residential area known as Halbe Stadt will be restricted starting at 7:00 AM, one hour before the scheduled detonation. This precaution is necessary to facilitate a safe environment for the operation. The evacuation affects various establishments, including a medical center, supermarkets, the Kleist Forum theater, and a multi-generational housing complex.
More than 2,000 residents will be required to leave their homes during this crucial process. City officials emphasize that while there is no immediate danger to the public, multiple roads in the vicinity will be closed to ensure the smooth execution of the bomb disposal.
Residents are advised to follow instructions from local authorities and stay updated on the situation as the operation unfolds. The city is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens during this potentially hazardous event.
