US Defense Secretary Launches Investigation Following Leak on Iran Attack

Wed 25th Jun, 2025

The US Secretary of Defense has announced an investigation into a potential leak regarding a report on a military strike against Iran. This report, characterized as preliminary and of low confidentiality, has drawn significant attention. According to the Secretary, the military operations were executed precisely as planned.

Multiple US media outlets have reported that the recent military strikes aimed at Iran have only temporarily hindered the country's nuclear program by a matter of months. These reports reference officials familiar with the military intelligence assessment, indicating that the recent attacks did not successfully eliminate Iran's underground nuclear facilities.

The White House Press Secretary has confirmed the authenticity of the intelligence report but has dismissed the conclusions drawn within it. She stated that the reported assessment is fundamentally inaccurate and criticized the dissemination of such information.

In response to the airstrikes, the US President has reiterated claims of severe damage inflicted on Iran's nuclear infrastructure. He has asserted that the nuclear capabilities have been set back by decades, stating that Iran would not be able to develop nuclear weapons for an extended period.

However, the President also acknowledged the limitations of the information available about the attacks and did not rule out the possibility of future military action. He warned that should Iran resume its nuclear program and uranium enrichment activities, the US would respond with further military action.

On a related note, a ceasefire was established after twelve days of conflict between Israel and Iran. The hostilities began following a major Israeli assault on Iranian territory, which targeted key nuclear and military sites. The Iranian response included missile and drone strikes aimed at Israel.

During this time, the US military conducted strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. Following these attacks, Iran retaliated by targeting the US airbase at Al-Udeid in Qatar, although initial reports indicate that significant damage was not sustained.
