A devastating gas explosion occurred in a luxury department store located in Taichung, Taiwan, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. The incident transpired in the morning, sending shockwaves through the area and leaving behind a scene of destruction.

Authorities report that at least four individuals lost their lives in this tragic event, with 24 others sustaining injuries. The explosion took place on the twelfth floor of the building, which was reportedly closed for renovations at the time. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the blast.

Video footage captured the aftermath of the explosion, showing debris and building materials raining down from the upper levels of the store, littering the sidewalks and streets below. Local media shared images depicting shattered walls and a partially collapsed ceiling within the department store.

Taichung's mayor, Lu Shiow-yen, confirmed that several workers, employees, and customers were taken to various hospitals for treatment following the incident.
