Snakes and Stolen Goods Discovered by Police in Flensburg

Flensburg - In a series of recent inspections, the Federal Police in Flensburg uncovered various unaccounted items in the border area over the weekend. On Friday afternoon, officers stopped a Norwegian vehicle at the Harrislee exit of the A7. The driver claimed he was transporting snakes from Germany to Sweden on behalf of a friend. Upon further examination, authorities discovered two diamond pythons and one red/orange bush viper. As the driver could not provide proof of the animals' provenance and lacked the necessary permits for the bush viper, the snakes were inadequately packed and subsequently handed over to an animal shelter. The driver now faces potential legal action for violations of both federal and state nature conservation laws.

In a separate incident on Sunday evening, federal police conducted a check on a Romanian vehicle with a trailer at the Scandinavia Park. The vehicle contained 22 bags of coffee, each weighing one kilogram, alongside 20 boxes of chocolate, alcoholic beverages, dietary supplements, Parmesan cheese, and macadamia nuts. The three occupants were unable to present purchase receipts, leading to the seizure of the goods, valued at approximately EUR10,000, as a precautionary measure.

Just three hours later, another Romanian vehicle, a darkened VW Golf station wagon, was inspected by federal police. Inside, they found high-quality tools from brands such as Hilti, Makita, and Milwaukee, all packed in garbage bags. Again, the occupants could not provide any proof of purchase. The tools, valued at around EUR10,000, were also confiscated. Investigators from the federal police are now working with Danish authorities to determine whether these items originated from thefts in Denmark or other Scandinavian countries.
