In response to recent sightings of unidentified aerial vehicles in Germany, Russian officials have formally rejected accusations of involvement. Dmitri Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, stated that there are numerous politicians in Europe who tend to blame Russia for various issues without substantial evidence. He characterized the situation concerning the drones as peculiar but asserted that there is no basis for implicating Russia.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany had suggested in a recent television interview that a significant portion of the drone activity could be orchestrated from Russia. He expressed concerns about potential provocations aimed at testing Germany's resolve.

In a statement on Thursday, President Vladimir Putin remarked that the allegations against Russia seem intended to escalate tensions and provoke an increase in defense spending across Europe. He dismissed claims that Russia has intentions of attacking NATO member states as baseless.

Dmitri Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, criticized both Chancellor Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron for allegedly sowing fear of war. Medvedev suggested that the situation with the drones might be a result of various factors, including provocations from Ukrainian sources aimed at dragging Europe into conflict. He acknowledged the possibility that pro-Russian underground movements in European countries could be involved, as well as the antics of troublemakers looking to disrupt local authorities.

Medvedev emphasized that any of the mentioned scenarios could contribute to the rising anxiety surrounding the so-called "Russian drones." He pointed out that the crucial takeaway is for Europeans to understand the real implications of war.

Russia has been engaged in military action against Ukraine for over three and a half years, with both sides increasingly utilizing drone technology in their operations.
