Referee Attacked During Youth Football Match in Bad Ems

An incident during a youth football match in Bad Ems has raised serious concerns about violence in sports. The match, held at the Stadion Insel Silberau, experienced a shocking disruption on April 9, 2025, when a referee was physically assaulted.

The game, which was between VFL Bad Ems and SV Bogel, took a turn for the worse around 7:10 PM. Discontent with a decision made by the referee, a group of two to three male spectators invaded the pitch. One individual, aged 35, verbally abused the 40-year-old referee, while another assailant struck her in the face and issued threats. This alarming sequence of events led to the immediate cessation of the match.
