In a striking incident on the A100 highway in Berlin-Britz, two drivers engaged in an illegal race, oblivious to the presence of an undercover police unit. The event occurred in the early hours, around 1:30 AM, when the officers, patrolling in unmarked vehicles, observed the two cars speeding past them at over 170 kilometers per hour.

The two vehicles continued their reckless behavior, racing parallel to one another, even as they entered the Britz tunnel. Although they briefly reduced their speed, they quickly resumed their dangerous antics, utilizing all available lanes and executing perilous lane changes.

The situation escalated when one of the cars exited the highway at the Buschkrugallee junction. This allowed the police to successfully stop the vehicle, which was carrying four individuals. The 28-year-old driver was taken into custody, had his driver's license revoked, and his vehicle was confiscated. Authorities continue to investigate the other driver involved in the reckless racing.

Berlin has gained notoriety as a hotspot for street racing incidents, prompting law enforcement to employ plainclothes officers to combat this dangerous trend. The city's history includes several tragic events linked to illegal racing. Notably, in February 2016, an innocent bystander lost their life due to the reckless actions of street racers near the famous Kurfürstendamm area.
