In the early hours of Thursday morning, a 35-year-old man was arrested in the Gesundbrunnen district of Berlin after threatening police officers with a blank-firing gun. The incident occurred around 1:25 AM when authorities were summoned to a residence on Hansastraße following reports of a disturbance.

Upon entering the apartment, the officers encountered the man brandishing a blank-firing pistol. Instead of complying with police orders to disarm, he briefly aimed the weapon at one of the officers. Quick on their feet, the police managed to disarm him by delivering a forceful kick, subsequently bringing the man to the ground and taking him into custody.

A subsequent search of the apartment revealed three additional blank-firing weapons, along with ammunition, a switchblade, and various pyrotechnic items. The suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, was taken to a police station for processing. Following a blood test and the completion of identification procedures, he was released.

The individual now faces charges for threatening officers with a weapon as well as for violations of firearms and explosives regulations. The investigation is being handled by a specialized unit from the North Police Directorate and the State Criminal Police Office's State Security division.

In related news, incidents involving weapons and explosive materials have seen an uptick in the region, raising concerns about public safety. Local authorities are urging citizens to report any suspicious activities, particularly those involving firearms or illegal fireworks.
