Assaults on Women in Herscheid Spark Concern

Herscheid - Authorities are investigating a series of disturbing incidents involving a man suspected of attacking two women in public spaces. The first incident occurred around 11:20 AM on Wiesenstraße, where a 35-year-old woman reported that the individual spat in her face. When she confronted him, he forcefully pulled her hair and knocked her to the ground, resulting in minor injuries. The assailant fled the scene in the direction of Valberter Straße.

Later that evening, around 7 PM, another assault took place on Mühlengraben. A 47-year-old woman was struck in the face with an unknown object while walking on the sidewalk near a sports field. Bystanders witnessed the attack and immediately alerted the police, who promptly initiated a search for the suspect.

Law enforcement officials were able to apprehend the man shortly after, and he subsequently confessed to both attacks. The second victim sustained light injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Due to his erratic behavior, the man was admitted to a psychiatric facility for evaluation. Authorities have launched an investigation into charges of bodily harm and aggravated assault against him.
