Wed 1st Oct, 2025

In Husum, an elderly woman was recently deceived in a brazen scam, which highlights the ongoing issue of fraud targeting vulnerable individuals. The incident occurred on September 25, 2025, following a series of suspicious phone calls that began the previous day.

During these phone calls, multiple individuals contacted the woman, convincing her that her home was at risk of being burglarized. Exploiting her fear and concern for her safety, the scammers persuaded her to hand over valuable jewelry to someone posing as a police officer.

On the afternoon of September 25, the woman met the impersonator in the Meisenweg area of Husum. The fraudster, described as a woman aged between 25 to 30 years, presented herself as a legitimate investigator. She was reported to have long black hair, dressed in a light blouse and dark trousers, and carried a light-colored fabric bag.

After receiving the jewelry, the scammer swiftly departed in the direction of Osterhusumer Straße, leaving the victim distressed and without her valuables. The local police in Husum have since launched an investigation into this incident. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the Meisenweg area on that day to come forward and assist with their inquiries.

Authorities are particularly focused on gathering information that could lead to the identification of the suspect, as these types of scams often rely on manipulation and deceit to target the elderly. The police have provided a contact number, 04841-830-0, for individuals who may have relevant information.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community awareness and vigilance against fraud. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious and to verify the identity of individuals who request sensitive information or valuables, especially those claiming to be law enforcement officials.
