The Eisbären Berlin have put an end to their recent losing streak in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), securing a victory against the Augsburg Panthers with a score of 4-3 after overtime. This marks a significant turnaround for the reigning champions, who had faced four consecutive defeats prior to this match.

The decisive goal came from national player Frederik Tiffels, who played a crucial role in the game by scoring two late goals, including the winner in overtime. The match was held at the packed Curt-Frenzel-Stadion, where 6,179 fans witnessed a thrilling contest.

The game began with a balanced first period, but the Eisbären soon took control. Eric Mik opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a precise long-range shot. Early in the second period, Patrick Khodorenko doubled the lead for Berlin. However, the Eisbären missed several opportunities to extend their advantage, allowing the Panthers to respond. Cody Kunyk narrowed the gap for Augsburg in the 33rd minute, and just before the end of the second period, Donald Busdeker equalized.

In a tense third period, Augsburg took the lead for the first time with a power-play goal from Florian Elias in the 54th minute. Nevertheless, Tiffels rallied the Eisbären, first by scoring the equalizer with just two minutes left on the clock, and then netting the winning goal a mere five seconds into the overtime period.

This victory not only boosts the morale of the Eisbären but also reaffirms their status as a formidable competitor in the league.
