Duisburg Police Capture Trio of Burglars on A42

Mon 8th Sep, 2025

Duisburg - On the evening of September 3, 2025, a suspicious vehicle with Polish license plates drew the attention of law enforcement in Duisburg. Civilian patrols observed the car around 10:40 PM in Franz-Schubert-Straße, where it was driving unusually slowly, seemingly surveying the surroundings and nearby residences.

Three men exited the vehicle on Brucknerstraße and quickly disappeared between the houses. Shortly thereafter, they returned to the car and drove away in haste.

Following the suspicious activity, police conducted checks on nearby homes and discovered an open window with a cut flyscreen at a multi-family residence. Inside, the rooms were ransacked, indicating a potential burglary.

Officers pursued the fleeing vehicle and intercepted it at the off-ramp of the A42 at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße. The occupants, all Georgian nationals aged 23, 34, and 52, were apprehended and taken into custody.

During their search of the vehicle, officers uncovered items believed to be stolen: several watches, a gold coin, a bottle of perfume, a Rolex clasp, and a knife. Additionally, a screwdriver was seized as a potential burglary tool, along with the Citroën vehicle itself.

The suspects are not only under investigation for burglary but are also suspected of illegal residency in Germany. They were placed in police custody and presented to a magistrate on September 4, 2025, where they were subsequently remanded into custody pending further investigation.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of preventing property crimes and the importance of vigilant community policing in identifying and apprehending suspects.
