Authorities in Düsseldorf continue to search for the suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a 49-year-old man from Cameroon in the city's Bahnhofviertel district. The incident occurred late Thursday night as the victim was seated in the back of an Uber vehicle.

According to police reports, the victim was pursued by multiple assailants prior to the shooting, which took place when the vehicle came to a stop at a red traffic signal. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the attackers had been waiting for the victim outside a nearby hotel and that the confrontation may have been related to a financial dispute.

During the altercation, the victim sought refuge in the Uber, but his escape was cut short when the suspects caught up with the vehicle. One of the assailants reportedly brandished a firearm and fired through the car's side window, striking the victim fatally. Emergency responders attempted to revive the man at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The driver of the vehicle, though unharmed, was left in shock after the traumatic event.

Investigations by the homicide unit revealed that the victim was already known to law enforcement, having previously faced charges related to counterfeiting, illegal residency, and fraud. He had been flagged for questioning regarding his immigration status in Germany.

In light of the ongoing investigation, police are actively seeking to identify the last individuals the victim interacted with and are reviewing any available surveillance footage that may have captured the incident or the suspects. The case is being treated as a possible homicide, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
