First of all, a very warm welcome to the first print edition of The Munich Times.

We take a look back on an exciting Euro 2012 where Spain racked up a third consecutive major tournament success. Surely 'La Roja' are the greatest team in history? Talented young writer Bernie Reeves reviews an ultimately disappointing tournament for Germany. It's now 16 years since the Germans won a major title. What went wrong for Joachim Löw's charges?

Domestically, as we move forward there's plenty on offer to keep our English-speaking readers fully up-to-date with all sports happenings in and around Munich. Our writers will work hard to ensure the best possible coverage from the broadest spectrum of sports.

The focus is of course on football - the 'Beautiful Game'. We'll be providing regular updates on our Bundesliga clubs FC Bayern and 1860 Munich. We will also cover FC Bayern Basketball and EHC Munich Ice Hockey who can both look forward to the coming season with optimism.

We'd be delighted to hear your views on all sports matters. Can last season's Champions League finalists put the heartbreak behind them and go one better this time around? Can 1860 gain promotion back to the Bundesliga? Will FC Bayern Basketball's momentum continue? And what sort of future can EHC Munich look forward to after their last minute salvation?
