Teenage Moped Rider Injured in Police Pursuit Incident

In a recent incident in Herne, a 17-year-old moped rider was injured while attempting to evade police on the evening of August 2nd. The event unfolded around 9:40 PM when a bystander alerted law enforcement after noticing a moped carrying two individuals in the area of Wakefieldstraße and Kurhausstraße.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers instructed the moped's driver and his passenger, a 16-year-old, to pull over. Instead of complying, the two teenagers attempted to escape by maneuvering onto the sidewalk. Unfortunately, their flight ended abruptly when the moped lost traction and crashed.

Both youths sustained minor injuries and received on-site medical attention from a rescue team. Following the incident, the moped driver was required to undergo a blood test at the police station. Subsequently, the authorities returned the two young individuals to their guardians. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, with authorities working to gather further information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
