Fewer blood donations

Starnberg. Hospitals are short of blood - fewer blood donations come from Starnberg. The blood donor service advertises more in the town than anywhere else - but with little outcome.

The results from the most recent campaign, from the middle of April to the middle of May, showed a decrease in almost every town in the county. "We had the worst numbers ever in Gilching", says Peter Hien, spokesman of the donor service. In comparison to 2009 where 139 people donated blood, this year the numbers went drastically down to 88. "Eventually we will have to evaluate if it's even worth the effort" comments Hien.

Even though the donor service advertises more in Starnberg than anywhere else, no improvement is visible. The dates for the next campaign are not set yet, but probably will be some time in the summer, during the holidays.
