Panda Twins Leni and Lotti Receive Extra Milk Bottles at Zoo Berlin

Thu 27th Feb, 2025

Zoo Berlin is celebrating the growth and development of its panda twins, Leni and Lotti, who are now six months old. The dedicated zookeepers have decided to provide the young pandas with an additional milk meal each day to support their ongoing growth.

As reported by the zoo, the feeding takes place in the evening when the keepers offer the twins a specially formulated milk bottle. While their mother, Meng Meng, continues to take care of the majority of their nutritional needs, this extra feeding is intended to assist her in raising both cubs.

The milk provided to Leni and Lotti is made from a blend of different milk powders, specifically designed to meet the dietary requirements of pandas. Dr. Florian Sicks, the panda curator at Zoo Berlin, expressed his satisfaction with the twins' progress, noting that Meng Meng has been doing an excellent job in nurturing her offspring. He pointed out that the zoo environment allows her to raise both cubs, which is unlike the conditions they would typically face in the wild, thus requiring some additional support.

During the feeding sessions, distinct personalities of the twins have started to emerge. Leni appears to relish the affectionate interactions with her caretakers following her bottle, while Lotti displays a more energetic approach, often bounding around playfully after her milk.

Zoo Berlin continues to monitor the health and behavior of the panda twins closely, ensuring that both cubs receive the necessary care and attention as they grow. The addition of the milk bottle feedings is part of an ongoing effort to provide the best possible environment for these adorable pandas.
