Zelensky Urges Greater Allied Support for Ukraine Ahead of US Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Ukraine's international partners to intensify pressure on Russia in pursuit of a resolution to the ongoing conflict. Arriving in the United States ahead of a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump, Zelensky emphasized that while Ukraine is fully committed to ending the war, the achievement of lasting solutions depends on decisive actions from allied nations.

The discussions between Zelensky and Trump are expected to focus on potential pathways to end the Russian military campaign in Ukraine. Key topics on the agenda include the future of the Donbass industrial region and the situation surrounding the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power facility, Europe's largest. Zelensky and his delegation arrived in Florida late Saturday, with the meeting scheduled to take place in Palm Beach.

Following the US talks, Zelensky plans to engage in further consultations with European leaders. According to the Ukrainian government, these discussions aim to strengthen Ukraine's diplomatic position and prevent a protracted conflict. In recent days, Russian forces have launched a substantial number of attacks, including over 2,100 drones, approximately 800 glide bombs, and 94 missiles of various types, according to Ukrainian sources. On Saturday alone, Russian strikes targeted energy infrastructure and civilian facilities, deploying approximately 500 drones and 40 missiles. These attacks resulted in widespread disruptions to electricity and heating for thousands of households.

Repair crews and emergency services continue their round-the-clock efforts to restore essential utilities amid ongoing bombardment. The Ukrainian government has reiterated the country's urgent need for enhanced air defense systems, particularly advanced missile defense capabilities, to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.

In the lead-up to the meeting between Zelensky and Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Moscow's determination to achieve its objectives in Ukraine through military means if Kyiv does not pursue a peaceful settlement. The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported the capture of additional settlements in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, signaling an intensification of hostilities as winter approaches.
