In a recent operation, officers from the Federal Police conducted a routine check on a Ukrainian-registered Mercedes-Benz at the An der Neiße rest area in Görlitz. During the inspection, they uncovered multiple weapons concealed within the vehicle.
The driver, a 50-year-old man, was subjected to a thorough search that led to the discovery of a combat knife measuring 14.5 centimeters in length, found between the driver's seat and the center console. This knife was readily accessible, housed within its sheath.
Further investigation revealed additional dangerous items in the trunk of the vehicle, including another combat knife and a box containing twelve pepper spray devices (RSG), which lacked the necessary labeling as required by law.
As a result of the findings, the police seized the combat knives and the pepper spray devices. The driver now faces legal repercussions for violations of the Weapons Act, following the imposition of a security deposit of 500 euros to secure the ongoing criminal proceedings.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding firearm regulations and the illegal transport of weapons within the region.
