Wahl-O-Mat Launches on Tinder for Young Voters

Tue 4th Feb, 2025

Starting February 6, Tinder users will have the opportunity to access the Wahl-O-Mat, a digital tool designed to aid voters in understanding political parties' positions ahead of the 2025 Bundestag elections. This initiative is part of a promotional collaboration aimed at increasing political engagement among younger demographics.

Users of the popular dating app can interact with this feature by swiping left to dismiss the advertisement or swiping right to engage with the Wahl-O-Mat. According to the developers, this addition is intended to facilitate awareness of political viewpoints and options available to voters.

A recent survey conducted by Tinder reveals significant insights into the political inclinations of young singles. The study indicates that 30% of respondents are reluctant to date individuals who do not participate in elections, while 13% have previously ended relationships due to political disagreements. Furthermore, 65% of those surveyed expressed a commitment to voting, with 14% remaining undecided.

The survey involved the participation of 1,001 singles aged 18 to 25 and was conducted by Tinder as part of this advertising partnership. The collaboration is established with the Federal Agency for Civic Education, which has been providing the Wahl-O-Mat since 2002 to educate citizens about the political landscape and help them find parties that align with their views.

The Wahl-O-Mat is not the only tool available for voters; various alternatives have emerged that offer different methodologies for helping individuals identify suitable political parties based on their beliefs and preferences.
