A recent amateur football match in Berlin's Gesundbrunnen neighborhood ended in chaos as several players were injured during a violent altercation. The match, which took place on a Sunday afternoon, had to be halted due to escalating tensions among the players.

According to police reports, the incident began when a 25-year-old player from the visiting team celebrated a goal, provoking a physical response from a 26-year-old player on the opposing team. Witnesses claim that the latter struck the goal scorer in the face. In an attempt to mediate the situation, two additional players from the visiting team intervened but were also met with aggression.

The 26-year-old home player later claimed that he acted in self-defense, asserting that he was initially attacked by the goal scorer. As the confrontation escalated and the match was called off, further violent exchanges occurred. A 37-year-old individual affiliated with the visiting team reportedly punched a player from the home team. Additionally, the coach of the visiting team allegedly used offensive language towards a player, who retaliated by spitting at the coach and issuing threats.

Multiple players sustained injuries, including facial bruises, jaw pain, and a bleeding lip. The police responded to the scene, documenting the involved parties' identities and launching an investigation into the altercations.

Authorities have not disclosed the names of the teams involved and stated that there was no known history of conflict between the two sides prior to the match. The situation reportedly escalated during the course of the game.

As investigations proceed, the incident raises concerns about sportsmanship and safety in amateur sports, highlighting the need for measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
