Turtle Takes on Police Role: 'Schiggi' the Armored Officer Goes on Patrol

In an unusual turn of events, a turtle has found itself in a temporary role at a police station in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia. The turtle, affectionately named 'Schiggi' after a popular Japanese Pokémon, was discovered by a local woman and brought to the Ost police station.

This encounter was expected to be a typical routine case, but Officer Fiona Hüning decided to take a special interest in the creature, elevating it to the status of an honorary intern at the police department. The officers at the station quickly embraced the idea, excited to welcome their new four-legged companion.

Despite Schiggi's calm demeanor and laid-back attitude, the turtle's short-lived career was cut short during a fitness evaluation designed to assess its readiness for police work. While the turtle excelled in self-preservation--always keeping its shell close--its performance in other critical areas left much to be desired.

The little reptile showed little motivation for quick sprints and preferred a more defensive stance during mock arrest simulations. Consequently, it became clear that Schiggi was not cut out for the rigors of police work.

However, rather than facing disappointment, Schiggi was promptly promoted to the role of the station's mascot. With this new title came a unique set of perks, including unlimited access to fresh salad, a steady supply of water, and the best sunning spot in the station's courtyard. Thus, Schiggi's journey concluded not in frustration, but in a life of leisure and comfort.

After spending a few pleasant hours at the station, the police successfully found Schiggi a loving new home, ensuring that the turtle's story--originating from an unexpected encounter--ended on a high note.
