US President Donald Trump recently emphasized that the United States and Israel are fully aligned on various issues, including concerns regarding Iran. During a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump reaffirmed his unwavering support for Israel, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

In this conversation, which also touched on ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran, Trump expressed that while the US seeks an agreement with Tehran, it is imperative for Iran to make a decisive choice. He reiterated that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons.

Trump briefly conveyed on the social media platform Truth Social that his discussion with Netanyahu covered a range of topics, including trade and Iran, stating, "The conversation went very well. We stand on the same side on all issues." However, recent reports from the New York Times indicate that Trump declined to support Israel in its proposed military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.

The Israeli government had anticipated US backing for these plans, which were under consideration for execution in early May. These military actions would have necessitated significant assistance from the US military, as reported by unnamed officials within the US government. Despite initial support, Trump ultimately decided against endorsing the attack strategies after receiving feedback from several members of his administration, and he subsequently announced the resumption of negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program.

In related developments, the family of a young man reportedly kidnapped from a music festival in Israel has released additional footage of him pleading for help. The individual, Rom Braslavski, has been held captive by Palestinian militants since October 7, 2023. His family disclosed that the video was shared to amplify his desperate call for rescue.

Additionally, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Washington, where they discussed collaborative strategies to address challenges in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Syria. The discussions are part of ongoing indirect negotiations involving Qatar and Egypt aimed at securing a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, as well as the release of hostages held by Hamas.

Furthermore, the Israeli military reported that a rocket was launched from Yemen targeting northern Israel, triggering air raid alerts in Haifa and surrounding areas. The military confirmed that the rocket was likely intercepted successfully. This incident is part of a series of attacks by the Houthi militia from Yemen, which has been continuously targeting Israel since the escalation of the conflict in Gaza. The Houthis are allied with Iran, which also supports Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
