Osterfeld, Saxony-Anhalt - In a dramatic incident reminiscent of an action movie, a truck driver led police on a high-speed chase spanning over 100 kilometers on the A9 highway. The event unfolded on a Tuesday afternoon when alarmed motorists reported a truck swerving erratically as it merged onto the highway at the Köselitz interchange.

The 41-year-old driver, a Ukrainian national, displayed erratic driving behavior, alternating between slow speeds and rapid acceleration, which further raised concerns among other road users.

Upon receiving multiple emergency calls, law enforcement swiftly mobilized to intercept the vehicle. However, the driver disregarded all stop signals and continued his perilous journey toward Munich.

In response to the escalating situation, a significant police presence was deployed, including two helicopters and numerous patrol cars, as officers from Dessau, Halle, and Leipzig joined the pursuit. The chase involved several police vehicles attempting to contain the situation, during which two patrol cars collided with the truck, resulting in minor injuries to two officers.

The chase persisted for two hours and covered a distance of 100 kilometers before authorities successfully immobilized the truck using a spike strip. The deployment of the spike strip caused the truck's front tires to burst, bringing the vehicle to a halt.

Following the incident, the A9 southbound was closed for several hours to facilitate the recovery of the truck, leading to significant traffic delays. Investigations are currently underway to determine the motivations behind the driver's reckless actions, as initial reports indicate he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the chase. He remains under police supervision as inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding this alarming event.
