Tragic Incident in Kamenz: 7-Year-Old Boy Dies During Construction Work

Kamenz, Saxony - A devastating accident occurred in the Bautzen district on Saturday afternoon during construction activities on a private property. A seven-year-old boy was fatally injured at around 2:30 PM in the Wiesa district of Kamenz.

According to reports, the child suffered severe injuries due to the involvement of a construction vehicle, specifically a digger, and tragically passed away at the scene.

The incident took place along a disused railway line that previously connected Kamenz and Bischofswerda. This railway was decommissioned in 1997, with the tracks being removed in 2004. At the site of the accident, workers were clearing an overgrown area filled with shrubs and trees, with remnants of wood chips visible on the ground from the clearing process.

Both the 54-year-old operator of the digger and the boy's mother were provided with medical assistance following the tragic event. Police spokesperson Michael Scholz confirmed that both individuals are currently receiving care.
