In a devastating incident in Alfdorf, Baden-Württemberg, a traffic accident resulted in the death of a 30-year-old passenger when the car he was in overturned. The accident occurred on Wednesday evening on the Kreisstraße 1887, which runs between Rienharz and Pfahlbronn.

Shortly before midnight, the driver lost control of their silver Hyundai, causing the vehicle to veer off the road. The car flipped multiple times before crashing into a tree, ultimately landing upside down in a ditch. The impact of the collision severely damaged the vehicle.

Tragically, the passenger was trapped in the wreckage and succumbed to his injuries at the scene despite the efforts of emergency responders. The 25-year-old driver survived the accident but sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities suspect that icy conditions may have played a significant role in the accident. The temperature in the Rems-Murr-Kreis had dipped to -1°C that night, leading police to believe that black ice might have been a contributing factor. A police spokesperson confirmed that they are investigating the icy road conditions as a potential cause of the crash.

The local fire department responded promptly, deploying 40 personnel along with five vehicles and even a drone to assist in reconstructing the accident. The investigation into the precise circumstances surrounding the incident is being conducted by the Schorndorf police.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the potential dangers posed by winter weather conditions. Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution during periods of freezing temperatures and to be vigilant for signs of ice on the roads.
