Tragic Accident Near Schwerin: Parents Lose Lives on A 14, Children Survive

Metelsdorf, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - A tragic incident occurred on the A 14 highway between Schwerin-Nord and Jesendorf on Good Friday, resulting in the deaths of a 61-year-old man and his 48-year-old female passenger. The couple's two children, aged 11 and 13, sustained injuries but survived the accident.

The driver lost control of the Dacia vehicle for reasons yet to be determined, veering off the road around 3 PM and crashing into an emergency call pillar. The car subsequently flipped multiple times, and first responders reported that some occupants were trapped inside the wreckage.

The 48-year-old passenger succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while the driver passed away en route to the hospital. The couple's 11-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son, who were seated in the back, were transported to nearby hospitals with varying degrees of injuries.

In response to the accident, the A 14 was closed for several hours to facilitate rescue operations and traffic investigations. Emergency services included multiple volunteer fire brigades, paramedics, ambulances, and a rescue helicopter.
