A 30-year-old man is facing attempted manslaughter charges in connection with a serious incident that occurred in a Berlin-Reinickendorf bar last November. The charges arise from an altercation that escalated after a dispute over the music selection.

According to the prosecution, the incident took place on the morning of November 30, 2024, around 3 a.m. in a venue located on Hechelstraße. The accused reportedly took control of the music remote and repeatedly played Arabic songs, which frustrated many patrons. Tensions flared when the remote was damaged during the altercation, leading to a confrontation that spilled onto the street.

During this confrontation, a 24-year-old man attempted to mediate the situation. However, he was subsequently stabbed in the groin area with a sharp object, severing a femoral artery. The victim experienced significant blood loss and suffered a cardiac arrest as a result. Emergency responders managed to revive him after approximately 50 minutes of resuscitation, but he may have sustained permanent brain damage and is currently under legal guardianship.

The accused denies the allegations against him. He was apprehended shortly after the incident at his residence and has been in pre-trial detention since December 1, 2024. The case has raised concerns about the consequences of seemingly trivial disputes escalating into life-threatening situations.

The public prosecutor's office is pursuing the case, emphasizing the severity of the alleged crime and the need for justice in light of the victim's critical condition.
