Stephanie Tiede Joins the Board of the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists

Wed 9th Apr, 2025
Stephanie Tiede has been appointed as a new member of the Board of the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists (BAK) in Germany. She secured her position with an impressive 90% of the votes cast. Tiede serves as the branch manager of La Vie Apotheke in Hamburg and holds a position as a board member within the Hamburg State Chamber of Pharmacists. Tiede takes over the role from Ina Lucas, who recently transitioned to the role of Vice President of the German Pharmacists Association (ABDA) on January 16. Lucas's departure from the BAK board comes after only a few months, as the ABDA's statutes allow for holding dual roles, but politically it is viewed as less favorable. Consequently, ABDA President Thomas Preis is also stepping down from the board of the German Pharmacists Association (DAV). Prior to her election, Tiede introduced herself to the presidents of the state pharmacy chambers, and her candidacy was proposed by the previous board. No other candidates were nominated, leading to her recent election by secret ballot. With Tiede's election, the BAK board is now fully constituted. The last general elections for the board were held on November 27, 2024, when Armin Hoffmann, President of the North Rhine Pharmacy Chamber, was elected as the new BAK President. The delegates also elected Franziska Scharpf as Vice President; she currently serves as the Vice President of the Bavarian State Chamber of Pharmacists but is set to run for the presidency of the BAK in June. Additionally, Hannes Müller from the Westphalia-Lippe Pharmacy Chamber was re-elected as a board member. New to the board is hospital pharmacist Maike Fedders from the Saxony Pharmacy Chamber. Ina Lucas, who was first elected to the BAK board in late November, is now resigning to focus entirely on her responsibilities as ABDA Vice President.
