In a disturbing incident in Rochlitz, Saxony, two individuals sustained severe injuries during a stabbing outside a supermarket. Fortunately, neither victim is in life-threatening condition, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Chemnitz police department on Friday morning.

The alleged assailant, a 23-year-old man, was apprehended at the scene shortly after the attack occurred on Thursday evening, around 30 kilometers north of Chemnitz. The motive behind the attack, which took place just before the Easter holiday, remains unclear.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect was sitting near the entrance of the supermarket when a 59-year-old woman exited. He reportedly launched a sudden attack on her, inflicting multiple stab wounds. A nearby witness, who observed the assault, yelled for help, prompting an 18-year-old employee from a neighboring store to rush to the woman's aid. Unfortunately, he also suffered severe injuries from the knife during the intervention.

Several bystanders intervened and managed to restrain the attacker until law enforcement arrived. Upon their arrival, the suspect reportedly resisted arrest, striking and kicking at police officers.

Authorities revealed that the 23-year-old had previously been issued a ban from the supermarket. Earlier that afternoon, he had entered the store but left after being asked to do so by a staff member. Investigations into the details surrounding the incident are ongoing.

A warrant for the suspect's arrest was issued on Good Friday, and he has since been transferred to a correctional facility, as stated by the Chemnitz police. The individual is a German national.
